As spring turns to summer, rain and strong sun alternate. Over time a sunroof suffers and begins to leak. Care for it to avoid that.
1. Keep the drains clear
Most leaks come from blocked drains, not failed seals. A blocked tube lets water back up into the headliner. Clear the tubes at each corner twice a year with soft wire or compressed air.
2. Clean and treat the seals
Wipe the rubber seals clean and apply a silicone or rubber care product. Dry, hardened seals shrink and let water through.
3. Grease the rails
Clean the guide rails and apply the specified grease so the roof moves smoothly without straining the motor.
4. Operate it regularly
Open and close the sunroof occasionally even when unused, so seals and mechanism do not seize.
