Outside the largest cities, motorcycles and e-bikes are everyday transport for a large share of people. Car care is familiar to most, but motorcycle care surprises many.
Many riders are astonished: "Motorcycles need servicing too?" They do. Neglect one and within a few years power drops, starting becomes hard and the machine is finished. Here are the basics.

1. Wash it
Many motorcycles are never washed from new to scrap, and that affects performance. Bikes go anywhere, including muddy lanes after rain. Mud and grit splash over the machine with nothing to shield the engine, and grit trapped in the gaps grinds against components as you ride. Clean regularly and clear the debris.

2. Change the oil on schedule
Motorcycle oil oxidises and darkens just as car oil does. Left in service it hurts performance and lubrication drops off. Regular oil changes are a core part of motorcycle care, and the old oil must be drained completely.

3. Check the chain and brakes
A dry or slack chain wears out fast; lubricate and adjust it. Check pad wear and fluid levels as well.
