Why Leather Seats Crack Most in Autumn

Once autumn arrives the summer heat is finally gone, the air cools and, importantly, becomes much drier. Your skin no longer drips with sweat, but it starts to feel dry and needs no less moisture than in summer. As the weather turns colder, cracked skin and lips become more obvious still.

Leather in the car is no exception to autumn dryness. Genuine leather seats are made from water buffalo or yellow cattle hide, mostly yellow cattle. They stay smooth, supple and resilient because the protein, moisture and fat in the hide are properly maintained.

But that protein, moisture and fat change with time and weather. Over the years the leather ages and dries out. Autumn air is drier still, and leather loses its moisture very easily. If that moisture is not held in, cracking becomes more and more visible.

Left alone, the cracks and fissures multiply and the seat is soon ruined. Autumn is exactly when leather care deserves attention.

How should leather be cared for? A leather nourishing balm refined from natural beeswax penetrates the leather, conditions it, locks in moisture and replenishes its oils. It also resists soiling and repairs, prevents ageing and leaves the leather smoother and brighter. Suitable for all smooth leather surfaces, in the car and at home.

Give the leather seats this protection through autumn and winter, and they will not crack and deteriorate with the season.
