Cleaning Your Car Interior Yourself

Interior cleaning gives much better results done in the right order. Work top down and keep water away from delicate surfaces.

Step one: headliner and fabric

Cover surfaces that must not get wet. Start at the roof and work downwards. For the headliner, spray the multi-purpose cleaner onto a towel rather than the fabric, then wipe in overlapping passes. Work in sections and do not soak the material.

Step two: seats and door panels

Clean fabric seats with an interior cleaner worked in with a soft brush, then blot with a clean towel. On leather, use a dedicated cleaner followed by a conditioning balm.

Step three: dashboard and trim

Use a soft brush and a damp towel. Avoid silicone-heavy dressings, which attract dust and glare in sunlight.

Step four: glass

Clean interior glass last, with a dedicated glass cleaner and a lint-free cloth.
